When something has gone wrong for somebody on your project, ask me why in your own words. I look it up rather than guess, and then offer to put it right. This is for a project’s admins: a member or follower who asks me is told to ask one of them.
An invitation that has not arrived: Ask me “Did Tom’s invitation go?” or “Who is still waiting to sign up on this job?” and I tell you, for each person:
- whether the email went, and whether it was delivered
- whether BuildersAI is still holding it while your account is set up, or it has not gone yet because it was only just added
- whether it could not be delivered, or the person marked one of our emails as spam
- whether they have since made an account, so they are not waiting any more
- whether something on your company stops a new one going: its plan, its email being held, or the project being archived
I only ever say that an email could not be delivered. I never say when, why or from whom, because that address may have bounced on another company’s email.
Somebody who cannot see something: Ask me “Why can’t Sam see the Electrical folder?” and I check, in order:
- Whether the file, folder, drawing, photo or the project is there at all
- Whether it has been withheld by BuildersAI
- Whether they were taken off the project
- Whether they are on it at all, or have been invited and not signed up yet
- Whether it is set to admins only or members only, above their role, and where that was set: on the thing itself, on a folder it is in, or on its album. If it is set in more than one place, I say so, and which to change first
No screen restricts a drawing to a role, so when somebody cannot see one, the reason is their place on the project.
Putting it right with one press: I tell you what would put it right. Ask me to, and I put the fix up as a box in our conversation:
- Send it again sends the invitation to them again. It can go once a day, and if your company’s plan or email stops it, the box says so in BuildersAI’s own words
- Change who can see it changes a file or folder to Everyone, Members only, Admins only, or the same as the folder it is in. It changes it for everybody on the project, not only the person you asked about. Everything inside a folder follows the folder’s setting, unless it has a stricter setting of its own
- A file can never be more open than the folder it is in. If the folder is set to admins only, the box says so and waits: change the folder first
- Somebody who is not on the project is added with the box for adding people (see the “team_management” topic)
Nothing changes until you tick the box and press its button. A box lasts ten minutes, and I put up a fresh one if you ask again. I never tell you about another company’s emails or another project.
